Social Media

Dear Parent and Carers

Re: Facebook and social media

It has been brought to my attention that there have recently been several negative comments about our school on a local Facebook group.  Many of these comments were untrue but have been shared in a large group with no means for the school to clarify or refute these claims.

May I remind parents that if you have a genuine concern then the proper way to address this would be to contact the school directly and allow an opportunity to investigate and address any concerns.

There were comments about an OFSTED Inspection taking place and some students being kept off school.  I can confirm that currently we have not had any notification of an OFSTED Inspection.  We would always keep parents updated with any OFSTED Inspection taking place in school. Furthermore I can assure you that we value all of our students and it would be in breach of both our attendance and behaviour policy to ask a student to stay away from school without valid reason.

Untrue and negative comments can potentially damage morale at school and this can undermine the positive learning environment that every school works hard to create and have a direct impact on our students.  Negative comments can also affect the reputation of the school in the wider community and this is frustrating when we are all working extremely hard to further improve the school

I have received fantastic support from the parents and wider community since September and I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,

Louisa Morris
