27th September 2018 - Headteacher's Welcome Letter

Dear Parent/Carer,

As we begin a new year at St Philip Howard, I would like to welcome you back to what I am certain will be another successful year. The school is going from strength to strength and the summer GCSE results are a reflection of this. We are delighted for the Class of 2018 as their results have done both them and us proud.

62% achieved Grade 4-9 in both English and Maths

42% achieved Grade 5-9 in both English and Maths

A special mention must go to the English Department who achieved their best ever results:

82% achieved a Grade 4-9

65% achieved a Grade 5-9

30% achieved a Grade 7-9

This is an affirmation that SPH is the school to choose to ensure academic success.

As always, we have worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure that the learning environment for your child is the best it possibly can be. We have continued with our decoration programme in the classrooms, the library has had a revamp, new computers have been fitted in the Computer Suite and we have introduced The Lunchbox Express for Year 10 and 11.

Our new staff are settling in well and the pupils are responding positively. The pupils have returned looking smart and wearing their uniform with pride. We thank you for your support with this. Teaching and Learning remains a focus for the school and the Senior Leadership Team have been visiting classrooms regularly and are happy to report that the pupils are focused and ready to learn.

As mentioned in my summer letter, we will keep you updated in our areas of focus with a Teaching and Learning Newsletter. I am sure that you will be pleased with the developments.

Also, just a reminder that Parent Pay is now available for you to pay for your child’s lunches and any school trips that they may be attending. This removes the need for your child to bring cash to school. Also, every pupil has been given a password for the VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) which means you and your child are able to access any homework that has been given. We hope that you find these recent additions helpful.

Finally, we look forward to working in partnership with you this year as we continue on our Journey.

Kind regards,

L Morris
