Non-uniform Day

Dear Parents,

St Philip Howard are teaming up with a local Glossop charity called The Winnie Mabaso Foundation. The work of this great charity is to help young people in South Africa to access education, which many of them cannot afford. They also run other programmes to help children and have recently opened an orphanage for girls.

In order to help raise funds for this good cause will be holding a non-uniform day here in school on Wednesday 13th July 2016. We ask that students donate a minimum of £1 each for the opportunity to come into school in their own clothes for the day.

It is law that every student in South Africa attend school until the age of sixteen. In South Africa it costs £13 to fully kit a student with a school uniform (shoes included). There are many families in shanty towns and other areas of economic deprivation that cannot afford this money and so end up not being able to send their children to lessons. We would like to see all children being able to access education, no matter what.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Gallagher
