Move! Bounce! Play!

Thursday 2nd June 2016. 2-4pm.

£10 for one child or £16 for 2 in the same family.

This activity is for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs. (Aged 4-16 years). The sessions take place during the school holidays and utilise the community sports facilities based at the school. The key activities are Trampolining, Rebound Therapy, Air Track and Coordination & Balance Development.

The sessions began in 2014 following feedback from parents and families about what activities their children would enjoy. The sessions originally catered for children and young people with varying needs with a specific focus on Autistic Spectrum, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Learning Disabilities. However we welcome children and young people who have different needs to this.

The activities are open for siblings to attend and parents/carers do stay for the duration of the session. We provide a room with refreshments so if your child is able to participate independently they can do, alternatively parents can support their child and enjoy watching them participate in a safe and fun environment.

Please note: We do recommend that you contact us prior to your first visit so we can pass on any relevant info and you can share with us some information about your child that will help their first session go smoothly.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the activity children and young people with the following medical conditions are not able to access the trampolining or rebound therapy element of the session. However we would encourage you to contact us so we can discuss the activities your child may be able to take part in.

  • Detaching Retina
  • Rodded Back
  • Dwarfism
  • Confirmed Atlanto-axial instability
  • Brittle Bones

If your child needs time out – this room is available.

Families who have previously attended the sessions have provided us with the following feedback:

  • ‘Good to meet other parents who understand my childs needs’
  • ‘It is so nice to feel welcomed into a sports session where my child can take part without feeling isolated’
  • ‘My child doesn’t communicate like this in other sessions I have taken him to’

The coaching team that lead these sessions take time to get to know each child and their family and enjoy developing a rapport that can see each child enjoy and achieve in a sporting setting.
