Dates for your Diary for Y11

Friday 13th May 2016

Dear Parent/Carer,

Dates for your Diary for Y11

The time has finally come for your child to sit their GCSE examinations. All preparation and revision has taken place and it is now down to them to showcase all they have learnt and achieve huge success in the summer. Below are some important dates for your diary to keep you informed of what is happening during the exam period:

Monday 16th May 2016 – GCSE exams begin – a full exam timetable can be found on the school website and copies have been issued to pupils.

Friday 27th May 2016 – school closes for half term

Monday 6th June 2016 – pupils return to school

Thursday 9th June 2016 – Friday 24th June 2016 – Study Leave – pupils must attend lessons for subjects where the exam has not yet taken place and any extra revision sessions that they have been invited to attend. Pupils will only be allowed Study Leave if they have been issued with a Study Leave Pass (more information to follow).

*Please note any pupils who have science on the afternoon of Thursday 9th June MUST attend the science lesson that afternoon in preparation for the exam the next day.

Friday 24th June 2016 – Leavers’ Service in the Hall 1.30pm. Pupils must attend in full, smart school uniform. Pupils will be able to sign shirts at the end of the Leavers Service. Parents/Carers are also more than welcome to attend.

Please could I take this opportunity to remind parents that pupils must attend school in full uniform. School uniform rules still apply to Year 11 when they are sitting their external examinations. Please see the school website for uniform specifications.

Y11 Prom 2016: Final Arrangements

As you are aware the Prom will take place at The Midland Hotel, Manchester on Friday 1st July 2016. Pre-dinner drinks will be from 7.30pm and dinner will start at 8pm. There will be soft drinks available for your child to purchase.

Pupils are responsible for their own transport arrangements to and from the Midland Hotel. The Prom will end at 11.30pm.

There will be a professional photographer at the event to take pictures of your child and their friends and pupils will need money to order any copies they wish to purchase.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate your child on their hard work and determination during their time here at St Philip Howard and look forward to celebrating with them at the Prom.

Yours sincerely

Mrs E McGill

Head of Year 11.
